Maxim Crane Works Announces Retirement of CEO Bryan Carlisle and Leadership Succession Plan
WILDER, Ky .– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Maxim Crane Works LP (“Maxim” or the “Company”), the world’s largest crane rental company, today announced the retirement of Managing Director Bryan Carlisle, effective September 30 2021. Mr. Carlisle has worked for Maxim and his predecessors for over 45 years and will continue to serve on the Board of Directors of the Company. COO Frank Bardonaro also left Maxim to pursue other opportunities.
Michael Kneeland, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maxim and former President and CEO of United Rentals, will continue in his role. Maxim has formed an interim CEO office to provide continued leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations as the company searches for a new CEO. The CEO’s office includes Sean Collopy, CFO and Treasurer; Don Goebel, Legal Director and Tax Director; and Larry Lis, vice president of the Midwest region.

The board of directors is already actively working to identify the best CEO for Maxim in order to improve our market leadership. About Sean Collopy
Mr. Collopy has 24 years of financial leadership experience and joined Maxim as CFO and Treasurer in April 2021. He previously worked for GE Aviation for 16 years, most notably as CFO of Supply Chain Global, CFO of Military Systems, CFO of Global Engineering and CFO of Mechanical Systems. Prior to GE Aviation, he held senior financial and executive positions at Delta Air Lines and Comair. He holds a BSBA in Accounting from Xavier University and is a graduate of GE’s Experienced Financial Leadership Program (EFLP).
About Don Goebel
Mr. Goebel has 30 years of diverse legal, commercial, insurance, tax and financial experience in various industries, including the last 18 years at Maxim. He oversees the legal and tax departments of the Company as well as the insurance and risk management function of Maxim and provides administrative support to all operational and administrative staff of the organization. Before becoming Legal Director and Tax Director in 2014, he was Vice President and General Counsel from 2005 to 2013, and Associate Legal and Tax Advisor from 2003 to 2005. Before joining Maxim in 2003, Mr. Goebel was a partner in a a large regional law firm based in Pittsburgh, Pa., and prior to his tenure at a law firm, he was tax director for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a JD from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law and an LL.M. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
About Larry Lis
Mr. Lis has nearly 30 years of sales and operations experience in the construction industry, including 23 years with Maxim. Prior to becoming vice president of the Midwest region in 2016, he held a variety of leadership roles including serving as vice president of the Northeast region from 2012 to 2016, where he managed regional divisions, cranes and aerial work platforms. Prior to joining Maxim in 1999, Mr. Lis worked for AC Dellovade, Inc. He studied at Akron University.
