CAMBRIDGE, England, 21 October 2021 / PRNewswire / – Risilience â„¢, the leading business platform on climate change, announced a £ 6million Series A investment from international investors led by IQ Capital. The investment will be used to develop the leading Risk Analysis and SaaS platform for businesses to assess their climate change risks and manage their transformation to achieve net zero emissions.

Risilience’s ambitious growth trajectory aligns well with companies taking action to address climate change risks. Over the past two years, the team has helped companies at the forefront of managing their climate change risks, including Nestlé, Burberry, Reckitt, easyJet, Maersk, Informa, Abrdn and AXA XL. Risilience’s current corporate customer base has committed to eliminating an annual total of 240 million tonnes of CO2e emissions – the equivalent of the annual carbon emissions produced by Spain.

A fifth of all large companies have now committed to a net zero goal, and many more are expected to do so in the coming months. Risilience believes that inaction would dramatically erode the earnings value of many companies over the next several years due to rising carbon tax costs and pressures from consumers and investors. By taking proactive steps to transform their business now, the business benefits far outweigh the costs of implementation. However, achieving the net zero goal is a long and complicated process for large organizations, and many companies do not yet have a clear strategy in place to achieve this goal.

Risilience provides solutions that apply the approaches developed by the Center for Risk Studies in Cambridge University, Judge Business School, from which he came. Cambridge has a reputation as a world leader in the application of climate science, combined with corporate finance and scenario development – using behavioral science and economic modeling. The Risilience Platform integrates data sets and tools that enable companies to quantify the risks they face as a result of inaction and assess the benefits they will derive from deploying the right management strategies.

The Series A funding round included lead investor IQ Capital, multinational insurance company Tokio Marine, and US MIT alumni investment fund Castor Ventures.

Dr. Andrew Coburn, CEO of Risilience, said: “We are delighted to have the support of IQ Capital, Tokio Marine Holdings and Castor Ventures in our ambitious plan to provide world-class solutions to businesses to reduce their risk. exposure to climate change. We selected these investors for their ability to partner with us and add expertise and access to key market sectors. “

Kerry Baldwin, Managing Partner of IQ Capital who led the cycle, commented: “Risilience combines technology, science, customer base and academic rigor to make a real and practical difference in the fight against climate change. This is an example from a UK company helping the world’s largest companies achieve and demonstrate a net zero transition. “

Tokio Marine invests in Risilience to facilitate new insurance products and services to protect commercial companies against the risks of climate change and to encourage sustainable practices in their corporate customers.

Castor Ventures, which builds diversified venture capital portfolios for alumni Massachusetts Institute of Technology, invests in Risilience to spread emissions management technology to US companies.
