Hill had been named Community business of the year at the prestigious Saturday evening The Courrier Business Awards 2021 held at the Apex City Quay in Dundee.

The Dundee-based charity won the award for its commitment to supporting the community through local employment, partnering and social inclusion.

Since its inception as a housing association in 1967, Hillcrest has grown its offering over time. In addition to providing high quality affordable housing, Hillcrest offers support, training, skills and employment opportunities to people and communities across Scotland.

Over the past 18 months, Hillcrest has secured £ 438,000 in funding to support local communities during the pandemic. The funds have enabled Hillcrest to expand its services to help vulnerable people, including low-income families, people with disabilities, isolated seniors and people recovering from substance use.

By receiving the prize, Hillcrest CEO Angela Linton said, “We are extremely proud to win the Community Business of the Year award and it is an honor for our work to be recognized by the judges.

“Our teams have worked throughout the pandemic to ensure that some of the most vulnerable people in society receive help and support. Their dedication, commitment and hard work have demonstrated our values and this award is a worthy recognition.

“We also have to thank our volunteer board members. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Hillcrest as well as a healthy constructive challenge. Their involvement is essential to our ability to achieve such positive results. “

The Courier Business Awards, in association with Henderson Loggie, was founded in 2013 to recognize successful businesses and individuals in Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perthshire.

Hosted by a TV presenter Mark Durden Smith, the eighth annual black tie event featured 20 award categories celebrating a range of industries and businesses, large and small.
