Georgia “Jo” Lucille Patterson | Obituary
The funeral of Georgia “Jo” Lucille Patterson, 90, of Kempner will be held at 1 pm Monday at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Kempner. Interment will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mrs. Patterson died on September 14, 2021. She was born on July 2, 1931 in Crowder, Miss. Edward and Gladys (Cook) Hodges. She graduated from Crowder High School in 1948 and married her boyfriend, John Patterson in May 1948. She was the wife of a career soldier for 22 years, which took her and John away from the city. cotton sharecropping in the Mississippi Delta. When John retired from the U.S. Army, they moved to Lampasas, Texas, and founded Centex Data, an accounting department, until they both retired in 1991.
Called “Miss Jo” by friends, she was active in the Clear Creek Baptist Church and was known for her handmade carrot cakes that she happily baked for anyone who wanted one. Besides baking, Miss Jo enjoyed gardening, sewing and fellowship with others.
Jo was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John Patterson in 2013; his son, Richard Patterson in 2015 and his sister, Bettie Ronne in 2016.
Jo is survived by his son, John Patterson Jr. and his wife, Diana; his daughter, Karen Patterson; stepdaughter, Dallas Patterson; sister, Sandra Ware and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
