AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED: The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber has announced the winners of the organization’s Salute to Business Awards. They will be honored at the House’s annual Salute to Business Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on September 2 at the Eastwood Event Center, Niles.
Tickets for the event are $ 40 for chamber members and $ 50 for non-members.
The winners are:
Business Advocate of the Year – Dean Harris, Executive Director, Western Reserve Transit Authority;
Nonprofit Professional of the Year – Dr. Ronald Dwinnells, Managing Director, ONE Health Ohio;
Entrepreneurs of the Year – Holly and Jeff Swartz, Owners, Personal Protected;
Small Business Person of the Year – Fred Moran, Owner / Partner, Window World; and
Salute to Union Achievements – Jim Burgham, Business Manager, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 64.
The keynote speaker for the breakfast is Barry Zekelman, CEO of Zekelman Industries, the largest independent steel pipe manufacturer in North America. Part of his business is Wheatland Tube in Howland.
RECOGNIZED LOCAL FIRM: HD Davis CPAs in Liberty was recently named by Accounting Today as one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work for in 2021. Accounting Today is a nationally recognized accounting publication that sends out updates and daily information to more than 325,000 professionals.
Accounting Today holds an annual competition among accounting firms across the United States. Information on these companies is collected through surveys sent to employees of participating companies. Company policies, procedures and diversity are also reviewed. Accounting Today uses the information to recognize the top 100 companies, three of which are located in Ohio, including CPA HD Davis.
More than 250 companies applied for the 2021 award.
SHERMAN MARKS 25 YEARS: Sherman Creative, a Youngstown-based promotional products distributor, celebrates 25 years in business.
To mark the occasion, the company hosted an online pop-up style boutique with proceeds donating to United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley.
The company was founded in 1996 by Bruce and Carol Sherman.
AKRON CHILDREN’S NAMED BEST COMPANY: LinkedIn, an online professional networking and career development service, has recognized Akron Children’s Hospital as one of the Top 25 Companies in the greater Cleveland-Akron-Canton area.
Rankings are based on LinkedIn’s analysis of company data focusing on seven pillars that have been shown to lead to career progression: Advancement Ability, Skills Development, Company Stability, External Opportunity , affinity with the company (supportive culture), gender diversity and training.

MONACO JOINS BANK BOARD: Farmers National Banc Corp., based in Canfield, has added Frank J. Monaco to its board of directors as a category three director with a term expiring in 2022.
Monaco is a senior partner of 415 Group, an accounting, business consulting and IT services firm in Canton. In this role, he heads the firm’s consulting division, which includes business and estate planning, business valuation and merger support. Monaco has been part of the 415 group for 27 years and was previously Managing Partner from 2003 to 2019.
He also holds certified public accountant accreditations and is certified in financial forensics, in addition to being accredited in business valuation and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
DAVIS JOINS PREMIER BANK: Premier Bank hired Jehmall Davis as a community mortgage lender serving the Mahoning Valley.
Davis, who has 12 years of experience in the mortgage industry, most recently served as a senior mortgage originator with a national mortgage lender headquartered in Brecksville.
In his new role, Davis will work to develop new retail mortgage businesses designed to create homeownership opportunities for targeted borrowers and develop relationships with brokers, real estate agents, community and faith-based development organizations, community housing developers / builders and consulting agencies.
